Privacy Policy

This is a courtesy English translation. The legally binding version is the German one: Datenschutzerklärung.

Protecting your personal data matters to me. This policy explains which data is processed when you visit this website, for what purpose and on what legal basis. This site is deliberately data-minimal: no cookies for analytics or advertising, no tracking services, no ad networks, no Google Analytics and no profiling.

2. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Cloudflare (the “Cloudflare Pages” service). The provider is Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Cloudflare processes, on my behalf, the data technically required to deliver the website; the basis is a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR).

When the website is accessed, information transmitted by your browser is processed automatically:

• IP address of the requesting device
• date and time of access
• the file requested or address (URL) accessed
• amount of data transferred and status message
• referrer (the previously visited page, if transmitted)
• browser type and operating system (user agent)

The purpose is the technically error-free delivery as well as the security and stability of the website (in particular defending against attacks and misuse). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure and functional provision). These connection data are processed only briefly for security purposes and are usually deleted within a few days. I do not merge them with other data sources and do not identify individual persons.

3. Fonts (self-hosted)

This website uses fonts that are served locally from my own server (self-hosted via Fontsource). When the page loads, no connection to third-party servers (in particular not to Google Fonts) is established, and no font-related data is transmitted to third parties.

4. Getting in touch

Contact form

If you use the contact form, I process the data you enter: name, email address and the content of your message. This information is transmitted TLS-encrypted to my own server hosted in Germany (rented from IONOS SE, Montabaur) and delivered to me from there by email; dispatch is handled by my email provider mailbox.org (Heinlein Hosting GmbH, Berlin). Your data is not stored on the server itself, and no further service providers are involved.

The purpose is to handle your enquiry and to communicate with you. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR insofar as the enquiry is aimed at concluding or initiating a contract, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries).

Contact by email

You can also contact me directly by email. In that case I process your email address and the information transmitted with the message for the purpose of handling your request (legal basis as above).

Voluntary consent to be contacted about offers

In the form you can additionally and voluntarily consent to me storing your email address so I may occasionally send you an individual offer. This processing is based solely on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 7 (2) UWG). The corresponding checkbox is not pre-selected. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future, e.g. by an informal email to martin@rdaneel.dev. The lawfulness of the processing carried out up to the withdrawal remains unaffected.

5. Storage period

• Server log files: brief processing for security purposes, usually deleted within a few days.
• Contact enquiries: until your request has been fully dealt with; afterwards deleted, unless statutory retention obligations apply (as a rule at the latest 6 months after the communication is concluded). If a business relationship arises from the enquiry, the commercial and tax law retention periods apply (6 or 10 years).
• Email address with consent given (offers): stored until the consent is withdrawn.

6. Transfer to third countries

Using Cloudflare may result in data being processed in the USA. Cloudflare, Inc. is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF); in addition, standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission pursuant to Art. 46(2) GDPR exist with Cloudflare as appropriate safeguards for the transfer. Beyond that, I do not transfer any data to countries outside the EU or the EEA.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights:

• access to the data processed about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
• rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
• erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
• restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
• data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
• objection to processing based on a legitimate interest (Art. 21 GDPR)
• withdrawal of consent given, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR)

To exercise these rights, an informal message to martin@rdaneel.dev is sufficient.

8. Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

Without prejudice to any other legal remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority at the controller’s place of residence is in particular responsible:

9. Currency and changes

This privacy policy is dated 15 June 2026. As the website develops or legal requirements change, it may become necessary to amend this policy. The current version is always available on this page.
